Celadon
Il C. è un tipo di ceramica di colore giada, verde/azzurra/grigia. Creata dai vasai cinesi prende il nome dal termine francese céladon che indica il particolare colore. Lo smalto C. è creato dalla presenza dell'ossido di ferro cotto in riduzione.
C. is a term that describes a particular ware that has the colour of jade, green-blue-gray.
Created by the Chinese potters, C. gets its name from the french term céladon, that describes that specific color. C. glaze is created by the presence of iron oxide in reduction firing.

Kintsugi
K. è un termine giapponese che significa riparare con la lacca d'oro. Questa pratica sembra sia nata intorno al XXV secolo, quando un famoso Shogun rimandò la citola a cui era molto affezionato in Cina per essere riparata. La ciotola ritornò con delle orribili graffe di metallo, così gli artigiani giapponesi dovettero inventare un metodo per riportare la ciotola al precendente splendore.
K. is a Japanese word that means "to patch with gold". This technique may have begun in the late 15th century, when a famous shogun sent a damaged Chinese tea bowl back to China to be fixed. It returned held together with ugly metal staples, so Japanese craftsmen had to find a form of repair that could make a broken piece look as good as new, or better.

Raku
Tecnica di origine Giapponese , il nome significa diletto, che esalta la bellezza delle forme naturali e delle imperfezioni. Nato per la creazione di tazze per la cerimonia del tè, la tecnica R. viene realizzata estraendo il pezzo ancora incandescente dal forno e spesso decorandolo con il metodo dell'affumicatura.
'Enjoyment' in Japanese, R. is a technique that concentrate on creating natural forms and emphasise the beauty of imperfections. Started as a way to quickly create cups for the Tea Ceremony, R. ware is done by exctracting the piece from the kiln during the firing. This creates interesting patterns often increased by putting the piece in a box of organic material such as sawdust or leaves.

Riduzione/Reduction Firing
Si riferisce all'atmosfera all'interno del forno, se c'è abbastanza ossigeno per bruciare il combustibile si parla di cottura in Ossidazione, se l'ossigeno viene a mancare si parla di cottura in R. Questo tipo di cottura, realizzata solitamente in un forno a gas, crea una gamma di colori più tenui dalle sfumature spesso diverse a causa della difficoltà di controllare a pieno l'atmosfera all'interno del forno. Questo è il fascino di molti smalti cotti in riduzione come il Celadon.
Refers to the atmosphere inside the kiln during the firing circle. If there is enough oxigen to entirely burn the fuel, the process is called Oxidation Firing, if there is a lack of oxigen the kiln is firing in a Reduction atmosphere. This type of firing, usually performed in a gas kiln, creates more subtle hues of colors often different because of the difficulty to control the kiln's atmosphere. This is the magic of R.F. ceramics, like the world famous Celadon.
