La prima Biennale d’Arte Ceramica Contemporanea fotografa alcuni aspetti della nuova condizione della Ceramica che vive oggi la sua più significativa fase di ESPANSIONE nell'Arte Contemporanea. Le sculture e le installazioni dei 13 artisti protagonisti di BACC 2012 raccontano il viaggio della ceramica verso il sempre più vicino mondo delle "arti". Gli artisti interpretano il cambiamento attraverso installazioni di grandi dimensioni, contaminazioni tra diversi materiali e tecnologie, linguaggi visionari, astratti, opere estreme e al limite della tenuta tecnologica del materiale.

The Biennale de la Céramique is a cultural event in Andenne taking place on Sunday and Whit Monday of each even year. The event, was created in 1988 and acquired over time a national and an international recognition.
The event wants to revitalize the industrial ceramic history of the city and builds bridges between people and contemporary artists.

During the event, and it’s extensions, all the city lives to the rhythm and colors of the ceramic : exhibition of contemporary ceramics in many places, international market of potters & ceramists, artist residency program, lectures, artists demonstrations, master classes, visits of schools, activities for children… all this find it’s proper place in the program.

Concentrated around three events and a dozen places in the city, the event organized since 2006 by the Cultural Centre, has strengthened its aspect as a link between the creation and access to art including actions related to ceramics, in conjunction with the Biennale, taking place throughout the year : ceramics courses for children and adults, themed exhibitions, master classes and lectures for professionals are now also on the agenda, reinforcing the Biennale event and giving the city a true character of Ceramics City.

Ho in programma di andare presto a Zaragoza, purtroppo la fiera è terminata ma mi rimane da visitare l'esposizione del Premio Internacional de Cerámica Contemporánea. Nel frattempo ecco un po' di foto degli artisti selezionati.

Si Accendono le luci di un mercato del pesce immaginario nella vetrina che ospiterà i pezzi della loro prima collezione:
AMO L'AMO.  
Collane, anelli, orecchini, nati dall’unione di due materie, la porcellana e i metalli, e da un unico modo di interpretare le forme, sequenze di geometrie irregolari e pesci che sfuggono, guizzano, saltano in una fusione di terra e fuoco.
L’esca  sarà servita venerdì 18 maggio dalle 18,30 durante l’aperitivo in musica a cura di Gianni Santoro alla chitarra, Davide Leotta contrabbasso, Gianluigi Corvaglia sax.

Eccoci all'immancabile avvenimento del craft inglese, questo week end inaugura Collect 2012, la fiera mercato dei designer-makers. Collect, diversamente dalla sorella Origin (che si tiene in settembre), si rivolge ad un pubblico di connoisseur e collezionisti, gli artisti vengono rappresentati dalle gallerie più prestigiose.

Gli eventi collegati a Collect sono numerosi, presentazioni di cortometraggi, conferenze e molto altro. Io purtroppo non riuscirò ad andare ma mi sto consolando con il bellissimo catalogo on-line. Evviva il web !

Collect 2012 starts in London on the 11th, a great event with the very best of contemporary craft. There are many interesting talks and presentation during the week end and for sure is an experience not to be missed. I, unfortunately won't be there, but the great catalogue on-line is a relieve.

Apparatu Ceramic's Innovation Made in Spain

Apparatu è il nome Xavier Mañosa ha dato alla sua linea di ceramiche sperimentali. Xavier è cresciuto nel laboratorio del padre ceramista e dopo un soggiorno a Berlino e gli studi di disegno industriale e grafico è tornato a Barcellona per dedicarsi interamente alla ceramica. La sua voglia di sperimentare lo porta a infrangere le regole della lavorazione classica scoprendo così risultati sorprendenti.

Artigas L’home del foc

Exposición de cerámica “Artigas. L’home del foc” en La Pedrera

Bellissima giornata nella mitica Barcellona e stupenda mostra che celebra l'arte di Josep Llorens Artigas (bcn 1892).  La Pedrera, una della case più amate realizzate dal mitico Gaudì, ospita al suo interno questa incredibile retrospettiva, più di 150 opere in un allestimento che non poteva essere più bello. Una vera gioia per gli occhi, si potevano ammirare le ceramiche monocrome in un crescendo di colori e finiture, chiara la sua passione per le ceramiche del periodo Song, fino alla sua collaborazione con Raoul Dufy e Joan Mirò.
Me la sono veramente goduta.

More than 150 pieces from the long career of Josep Llorens Artigas can be seen in this exhibit until next September

Born in 1982 in Barcelona and deceased in 1980 in Gallifa, Artigas was one of the most important European ceramists in the 20th Century since 1920s, when with his nineteenth-century education he contributed to renew Western pottery by focusing on the glaze and putting the decoration aside.
Artigas began working in pottery motivated by the resurgence of this art in France and his fascination for the Chinese Song dynasty pottery (960-1279), and for half century he created pieces that we will see represented in “Artigas. L’home del foc” by more than 150 works that in chronological order go through his career and evolution, starting with what he himself considered a masterpiece, “Clar de lluna”, from 1927, and until the 1970s, when Artigas teamed up with Raoul Dufy and the very Joan Miró.
This exhibition is a unique opportunity to admire the artist’s works, because an exhibition so big hadn’t taken place in Barcelona for about 30 years. We will have his unique pieces, his author pieces, until next September 2nd at La Pedrera, from 10 am to 8 pm all week and with free entrance.
