This is one of the beautiful pieces out of Magdalene Odundo's work. The artists born in Kenya moved to England in her twenties, where her creation mixed traditional tecniques with the form of modern sculpture. The curvy surfaces bring a strong resemblances to Brancusi's bronzes and Henry Moore's marbles. Her vessels are inspired by the female form, backs, tummies and hips are transformed in big ears. Her vases are coil built, covered with slip and burnished to perfection. Often the pieces are smoked to create wonderful hues of blacks.
