Akio Takamori

I don't know how I could have missed this !!! I am so sad... I even went to Ateliers de France, it was under my nose. :(

photos taken at Galerie Collection - 4 rue de Thorigny - 75003 Paris

Akio Takamori

Considered in the United States as the most innovative ceramic sculptor of his generation, Akio Takamori is presented in France for the first time.

This monographic exhibition, organised in partnership with the Barry Friedman Gallery in New York, presents 13 sculptures and seven recent works on paper or wood.
Steeped in the history of European art and ancient mythology, Akio Takamori transposes the canons of beauty in a Japanese-inspired aesthetic

Jerome Galvin at Accro Terre

With great ceramics, workshops for kids (or should I say atelier...), cafè ceramique ( bar serving tea, coffee, and snacks served in wonderful mugs and plates on sale), bookshop, magazines and materials. A great idea for celebrating ceramics without leaving the city !

Cèramique a Paris

A friend came back from Paris enthusiastic about this beautiful event. For the 44th general assembly of the International Academy of Ceramics in Paris, Sèvres, Les Arts Décoratifs, Collection Gallery and around forty among galleries and cultural centres host exhibitions or retrospectives to reveal to the public the richness of contemporary ceramics' creations. This is on at Les Arts Decoratifs:
Circuit céramique : la scène française contemporaine
17 September 2010–20 February 2011

Tracking the new possibilities offered by ceramics in the fine arts, design and craftsmanship, The Contemporary French Ceramic Scene at Les Arts Décoratifs is both an exhibition and an itinerary. Young talents never previously shown in a museum, and established artists sculpting in ceramics for several years have been brought together to illustrate the exhibition’s three themes: “The body and its metaphors”, “An imaginary landscape” and “The object revisited as decoration”. The project takes the form of an itinerary of contemporary ceramic sculptures and installations incorporated into the museum’s permanent collections.
