Purtroppo sabato scorso ci ha lasciato un grande ceramista, critico, professore, direttore Emmanuel Cooper. Cooper è stato un personaggio fondamentale per la ceramica inglese, nato nel 1938 fa parte di quelli che vengono chiamati "studio potters" ma non si limita alla pratica. Emmanuel Cooper è membro della Craft Potters Association e co-fondatore, padre spirituale e direttore ( fino a poco tempo fa' ) della bellissima rivista Ceramic Review, e come dicono in redazione sarà difficile pensare alla ceramica inglese senza di lui.
Nel 2002 era stato nominato OBE, officer of the Order of the British Empire (Ufficiale dell'ordine dell'Impero Britannico)!
Oltre alle sue ceramiche dai colori sgargianti e gli smalti cavillati, Cooper ha lasciato in eredita un notevole numero di libri e manuali che sono stati fondamentali per molti di noi, questo è il mio modo di ricordarlo

Saturday the ceramic world lost one of its pillars, Emmanuel Cooper, potter, writer, critic, teacher, co-founder of the great magazine Ceramic Review, member of the Craft Potters Association and awarded in 2002, with the OBE for services to art. |
