Anna Maria Maiolino al Camden Arts Centre, 1 Aprile - 30 Maggio

Anna Maria Maiolino nasce in Italia nel 1942, ma presto si trasferisce in Brasile dove comincia la sua carriera di artista. Nei suoi lavori spazia dalla fotografia, al video e alla scultura, dando voce all'opposizione contro i regimi totalitari, che sperimenta sulla sua pelle nel Brasile di quegli anni.
Contemporaneamente in esposizione anche a Milano alla Galleria Raffaella Cortese con i lavori degli anni 70-80, la Maiolino ha creato per gli spazi londinesi del Camden Arts Centre un'installazione ad hoc, creando grandi rotoli o palledi argilla lavorata, gli elementi base della tecnica ceramica. Ogni pezzo è unico ma si lega agli altri nella creazione di una struttura, proponendoci una riflessione sull'individualità nella società.
La Maiolino è una grande artista poco conoisciuta in Europa e queste mostre sono una buona occasione per avvicinarsi al suo lavoro.

Anna Maria Maiolino @ The Camden Arts Centre 01 April 2010 - 30 May 2010 Anna Maria Maiolino was born in Italy in 1946, but soon moved with her family to South America. She settled in Brazil during the 70's where she started her work as a respected artist. The critique of the Brazilian regime of those years speaks strongly from her wide range of production, films, photographs, sculptures and performances. Present at the same time in Milan with a retrospective on her 70's and 80's photographs, Maiolino has created an installation specifically for the Camden Arts spaces with hundreds of kilos of clay formed into rolls or balls. This basic ceramic shapes, each different from the other, react like individuals in society all different but all the same. Anna Maria Maiolino is relatively unknown in Europe and this seems like an unmissable occasion to get close to her work.
