The Archie Bray Foundation viene fondata nel 1951 da Archie Bray, un costruttore di mattoni, è un'istituzione meravigliosa, un centro di eccellenza per l'arte ceramica.
Situata in Montana, ai piedi delle Rocky Mountains, la fondazione è parte della storia della ceramica moderna, molti ceramisti straordinari hanno creato tra le sue mura. Per darvi un'idea, i primi direttori residenti sono stati Rudy Autio and Peter Voulkos. Dagli inizi più di 500 ceramisti da tutto il mondo hanno lavorato alla Archie Bray, tra cui: Tre Arenz, Val Cushing, John and Andrea Gill, Wayne Higby, Clary Illian, Jun Kaneko, Eva Kwong, Jim and Nan McKinnell, Ron Meyers, Robert Sperry, Chris Staley, Akio Takamori, and Arnie Zimmerman.
Oggi il direttore artistico è Steven Young Lee ( adoro il suo lavoro !!) che continua il lavoro dell'ampliamento delle residenze artistiche e dell'espansione dei laboratori e dei programmi.
Quest'anno la fondazione festeggia i suoi 60 anni, mi hanno chiesto di spargere la voce.

Per 3 giorni, 29 importanti artisti offriranno dimostrazioni, ci saranno mostre e interessanti discussioni sul tema della ceramica contemporanea. Situated in Montana, on the site of the former Western Clay Manufacturing Company, The Archie Bray Foundation is part of the history of modern ceramics.
Many talented ceramicists had worked within those walls. Just to give you an idea, Rudy Autio and Peter Voulkos were the first resident managers of the Bray. Since its inception, the Bray has drawn more than 500 ceramic artists from around the world to work, including such well-known ceramists as Tre Arenz, Val Cushing, John and Andrea Gill, Wayne Higby, Clary Illian, Jun Kaneko, Eva Kwong, Jim and Nan McKinnell, Ron Meyers, Robert Sperry, Chris Staley, Akio Takamori, and Arnie Zimmerman.
These days Steven Young Lee ( I love his work !!!) is the Resident Artist Director, and continues the work of upgrading facilities for resident artists and expanding workshop and exhibitions programs. For three days, 29 renowned artists will be offering demonstrations, exhibitions, and panel discussions during the 2011: From the Center to the Edge—60 Years of Creativity and Innovation at the Archie Bray Foundation, June 23–25.
Along with the 60th anniversary festivities, the Bray will host three exhibitions that will open June 23rd as well as a live and silent auction showcasing hundreds of ceramic pieces.
