CV: 5 Parole che descrivano le tue opere
SF: Sono state descritte da altri come : eleganti, sensuali e belle. Io normalmente le chiamo gres e porcellane e lascio giudicare agli altri.

CV: Che aspetto della tua personalità ti è più utile nel tuo lavoro?
SF: La creatività e il giudizio estetico

CV: Qual'e il tuo pezzo in ceramica preferito?
SF: una bottiglia per l'olio, realizzata in terracotta in italia negli anni '50, che ho visto a casa di un amico. L'ho vista una volta sola, quando avevo 16 anni (1965) ma è stato l'inizio. Ho costruito un tornio usando un vecchio gramofono e il motore di una macchina da cucire e ho cominciato. Non sapevo niente della ceramica è cominciato tutto da lì. L'immagine di quella piccola e umile bottiglia è rimasto nella mia mente.

CV: Da cosa trai ispirazione?
SF: Il lavoro ha il suo corso ma cerco sempre di migliorare il livello raggiunto; la ceramics Giapponese; l'ambiente che mi circonda; ceramisti internazionali contemporanei; ceramisti australiani come Victor Greenway, John Dermer e Jeff Minchim.

CV:Se potessi scegliere dove vivere/lavorare nel mondo, dove andresti?
SF: Rimarrei dove sono. Mi piace stare qui. Sono circondato da 10 acri di bush. E' come vivere in una riserva. Mi fanno visita canguri, wallabie, koala, echidne e kookaburras ( dacelo in italiano, dei piccoli uccellini con un verso simile a una risata), l'altro giorno un'aquila cuneata è atterrata davanti al mio studio. Dove potrei andare ?

CV: Five words that describe your work
SF: They have been described by others as elegant, sensual and beautiful. I usually describe them as stoneware or porcelain and leave it up to others to judge.

CV:What aspect of your personality is more useful in your practice?
SF: Creativity, aesthetic judgement.

CV: What is your favourite ceramic piece of all times ?
SF: An Italian terracotta oil bottle circa 1950 I saw at a friend’s house. I only saw it once, when I was about 16 (1965) but it was the starting point. I made a wheel from an old gramophone player and a sewing machine motor and tried to throw. I knew nothing about pottery but that is where it all began for me. The image of that humble little pot has stayed with me.

CV:Where do you get your inspiration from?
SF:The work process itself and always trying to improve on what I have achieved before; Japanese ceramics; my environment; contemporary international ceramic artists. Australian potters like Victor Greenaway, John Dermer and Jeff Minchim.

CV: If you could choose where to live/work in the world, where would you go?
SF: I would stay put. I really enjoy my environment here. I’m on 10 acres of bush. It’s like living in a wildlife sanctuary. I’m visited by kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, echidnas, kookaburras and the other day a wedge tail eagle laded right in front of the studio. Where would I go?
