Curtis Benzle, Mago della porcellana
E' da qualche tempo che inciampo nelle opere di Curtis Benzle, un ceramista americano di indubbia capacità e pazienza ma con risultati, a mio parere, non sempre entusiasmanti. Certo mi piacerebbe vedere le sue opere dal vivo, la trasparezza e la leggerezza della porcellana sembrano farla volare; ma la complicatezza dell'esecuzione e l'eccessiva raffinatezza del risultato me lo rendono distante. Inserito in Masters: Porcelain: Major Works by Leading Ceramists, è sicuramente un gran maestro nell'uso della tecnica giapponese del nerikomi ( sconsigliata a chiunque come me, non abbia una goccia di masochismo o pazienza, nelle vene ). E' comuque un artista interessante proprio per l'uso di questa tecnica insieme a quella del kintsugi, ma spesso il risultato è troppo. Se volete saperne di più:

Lately, I've stumbled frequently on this artist's work. Curtis Benzle is an American ceramist of great skills and patience but his work is often obscure to me. Benzle is just too good, and his works feel distant, maybe I should see them for real, I am sure I'll be hypnotize by the wonders of colours and translucency. Benzle's work appears on Masters: Porcelain: Major Works by Leading Ceramists, and his exhibition in 2009 was considered one of the best of the year. His use of nerikomi tecnique ( not reccomende if you, like me, lack even a drop of masochism and patience in your blood) and kintsugi and the extreme thinness and the use of colors and patterns appear to be, too much for me to take in, but photography is often misleading, so rest the case... for now. None the less I have to agree that he is a real master and to understand what I'm talking about watch his You Tube series...
