Ceramica Slow

Anche il mondo dell'artigianato si interroga sulla velocità e sulla sua influenza sul processo creativo. Storicamente legato a tempi lunghi e laboriosi, l'artigianato non è rimasto del tutto immune all'accelerazione di questi anni adattandosi a questo mondo sempre di corsa. Non solo la velocità ma anche l'attenzione verso l'arista e la nascita dell'opera sono punti fondamentali su cui rifletttere. L'organizzazione inglese Craftspace nasce per dare la possibilità all'artiginato di crescere e allargare i propri confini e riflettere su se stesso e sul suo ruolo nella società. Il movimento Slow è arrivato anche qui e Taking Time è la sua vetrina. Questa esposizione curata da Helen Carnac, presenta la riflessione di diciannove artisti sulle idee legate al movimento Slow:
il tempo e imetodi, i materiali e il loro valore, la posizione geografica e la sua influenza, le relazioni con l'ambiente e la mutata natura dellla produzione e del consumo.

Taking Time: Craft and the Slow Revolution

The Slow Movement is pervading to the world of Crafts. Stressed by the ever growing paste of this not so civilized era, craft artists are starting to reflect upon their practice and its relation with time and society. Locations, productions, value and influence of the environment, are also key points for a new revolution of the handmade. The U.K. based organization Craftspace was born out of the need encourage and to push the boundaries of craft practice, and the exhibition Taking Time reflects the thoughts of nineteen artists on the issues started by the Slow Movement.
