Annalisa Guerri CV's 6

CV: Il tuo migliore e peggiore momento ceramico?

CV: Five words that describe your work
AG: Transparency, lightness, fragility, corrosion, transformation

CV: What aspect of your personality is more useful in your practise?
AG: The ability to observe

CV: What is your favourite ceramic piece of all times ?

AG: The first piece that I created when I was 15 yrs old. It is a simple tile with a fish relief, but I regard it as a symbol of the road I chose to travel

CV: Where do you get your inspiration from?
AG: My inspiration comes mostly from the shapes of nature but as also from urban landscape and objects that surround me and their transformation in time

CV: If you could choose where to live/work in the world, where would you go?
AN: I chose to live in Sulmona, a village surrounded by the Majella National Park, an enchanting place, an endless source of inspiration! I like to be free to travel and work in different places.
For that reason whenever I can I apply to residencies in different international centres.
I've been in Denmark at Guldagergaard International Ceramic Research Center and I am going to New Taipei City at Yingge Ceramic Art Museum in february 2014.
I hope in the future to still have the possibility to continue travelling and to know new places and cultures, I believe this is the best way to continue growing in this job

CV: Your best and worst ceramic moment
AG: The best is when after weeks of experimenting new techninques I finally obtain what I had imagined. The worst, every time I do not obtain that wished result, or when I turn on the kiln and half way through I realise that I left out the most important piece.!

Adrian Villar Rojas at the Serpentine Gallery

Great show by Adrian Villar Rojas at The Serpentine London. Huge clay sculptures crackes before before our eyes.

"Kurt Cobain, kissing kittens and tray upon tray of apples ... artist Adrián Villar Rojas wants to recreate the whole world in clay – then watch it crumble before his eyes. Ahead of his forthcoming show, the first in the Serpentine's new Sackler Gallery, we get exclusive access to his workshop"
(The Guardian)
http://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/gallery/2013/sep/19/adrian-villar-rojas-planet-clay-exhibition#/?picture=417650068&index=1

The new Serpentine Sackler Gallery opens with an extraordinary site-specific installation by the young Argentinian artist Adrián Villar Rojas, in which the space has been re-imagined as a fossilised world of ruins and ancient monuments
From a sculpture of a mummified Kurt Cobain to a crumbling elephant, 33 year-old Villar Rojas combines pop culture, science fiction and quantum mechanics with the natural world to create a contemporary Pompeii. Fabricated almost entirely out of mud, clay and brick, this grey and dusty vision of the future offers a fantastical comment on the fragility of the world’s ecology.

Faenza 's Prize 2013

58° Premio Faenza:

Paivi Rintaniemi, Finlandia, opera Avis, 2012, material: high temperature condensed clay, fired in a temperature of 1250 °C.

The Faenza's prize for over 40's went to Finnish artist Paivi Ritaniemi for the work "Avis" reasons were "the purity of the work, successful combination of essentiality and sophistication, that highlights the profundity and the maturity of the artist's research. The artist inspired by the primordial shape of the container, had reached a very effective synthesis between fragility and strength, between the form and the non-form."

Nero, Alessandro Neretti,New Apostles, that is economical- structural landscape, 2012, glazed earthenware, stoneware, wood, black glaze

Bertozzi & Casoni at museum Beelden aan Zee

Bertozzi & Casoni: Timeless

Bertozzi & Casoni combine socially critical and philosophical themes. Through their colour and material choices their sculptures verge on history. Bertozzi & Casoni developed a technique in the late nineties for creating large ceramic works. The colossal but fragile sculptures by the Italian artist duo are overpowering and prompt observers to contemplate life and death, nature and culture, art and craft.
