CV: Che aspetto della tua personalità ti è più utile nel tuo lavoro?
CA: La mia forte volontà e determinazione, più quello che ho detto sopra
CV:Qual'e il tuo pezzo in ceramica preferito?
CA: un piccolo pezzo di Beatrice Wood, due figurine (un uomo e una
donna) sedute su una panchina che si guardano di sfuggita. E' così
semplice, ma in qualche modo mi ha fatto capire che volevo realizzare
opere figurative invece che teiere
CV: Da cosa trai ispirazione?
CA: sfoglio libri sulla storia della porcellana, la cultura della tavola
nel 18° secolo, e leggo e ascolto tutti i tipi di novelle e romanzi
storici. La storia è ciò che mi interessa, e in particolare quei piccoli
dettagli che solitamente vengono tralasciati nel riportare un evento.
CV: Se potessi scegliere dove vivere/lavorare nel mondo, dove andresti?
CA: Adoro il mio studio in Oregon, è bello e tranquillo e ha tutto quello di cui ho bisogno, ma al momento sto lavorando alla fabbrica di porcellana di
Meissen, in Germania nel loro programma Art Campus, che offre residenze agli artisti, e quindi faccio avanti e indietro ogni paio di mesi
CV: Il tuo miglior e peggior momento ceramico
CA: Penso ce ne siano stati molti di entrambi, uno che mi viene in mente riguarda un pezzo che ho fatto alcuni anni fa, negligentemente supportato durante la cottura si afflosciò e fu rovinata. E' stato uno dei momenti peggiori perchè ho aperto il forno il giorno di Natale per vedere i risultati. La cosa buona di tutta questa esperienza, è che ho visto immediatamente come correggere l'errore per il prossimo pezzo. E' stata una grande lezione e mi ha anche insegnato che posso risalire a cavallo

CA: Obsessive Compulsive Porcelain Disorder (okay it is only four, but that is it)
CV: What aspect of your personality is more useful in your practice?
CA: My strong will and determination helps, plus the above mentioned
CV: What is your favourite ceramic piece of all times ?
CA: little piece by Beatrice Wood with two figures (a man and a woman)
sitting on a bench looking at each other from the corners of their eyes.
It is so simple, but somehow it made me realize that I wanted to make
figurative work in clay rather than teapots
CV: Where do you get your inspiration from?
CA: I pour through books about the history of porcelain, dining culture in
the 18th Century, plus read and listen to all kinds of novels and
historical fiction. It is the story I am looking for, especially those
little details that are often left out of a strict record or factual
account of an event
CV: If you could choose where to live/work in the world, where would you go?
CA: I love my studio in Oregon, it is beautiful and quiet and has everything
that I need, but currently I am working at the MEISSEN Porcelain Manufactory in Meissen, Germany in their Art Campus program which is an
invitation-based artist residency program, so I am bouncing back and
forth every few months between worlds.
CV: Your best and worst ceramic moment
CA: I think there have been many of both, one that comes to mind is a piece
that I made a few years ago, that I neglected to support enough in the
firing, it slumped and was ruined. It was one of the worst moments
because I opened the kiln on Christmas day to see the results. The good
part about the whole experience, was that I immediately could see how to
correct the mistake for the next piece. It was a huge learning
experience and also taught me that I can get back on the horse
